Who we are
The
Global Data Privacy Tool was created by MULTILAW. In 2010, MULTILAW
Services Limited was founded to support the technology initiatives that
were created. Legal minds from around the world were consulted to bring
the best possible Data Privacy information available from their jurisdictions.
At launch we have information from over 70 different jurisdictions covering
six of the seven continents. We are constantly looking for new contributing
legal experts to add to our growing list of countries represented.
The Problem
Data
privacy and security and information management is a preeminent business
concern in today's electronic environment. Companies increasingly
conduct business operations that involve the transfer or storage of
their customers' or employees' personal information to another jurisdiction
or country. Payroll and tax records, medical records, credit card
information, insurance data, and other types of nonpublic personal
information are commonly the subject of a cross border transfer. Whether
a data transfer is directly managed or outsourced to a third party
service provider, the business is responsible for assuring the privacy
and security of the nonpublic personal information that it owns or
controls. Businesses that operate in more than one country must be
cognizant of the different viewpoints concerning data privacy and
security issues in those countries. Most countries have adopted data
privacy legislation or rules to protect their citizens, but the specific
requirements for collection, storage and transfer of nonpublic personal
information among the many countries of the world vary considerably.
Furthermore, notice and consent to transfer requirements are often
unique to each country.
The Solution
The
Global Data Privacy Tool is an online product that was created to
help businesses navigate known and unknown legal issues as they make
strategic business decisions. For an annual subscription fee that
is less than the cost of a quarterly newsletter, the Tool makes
available informative summaries on a vast array of data privacy topics
along with sample forms and supporting documentation. Currently, over
70 jurisdictions are represented, along with discussions on data privacy
related topics as well as the European Union Data Privacy Initiative,
the APEC Privacy Guidelines, and the Latin American Data Privacy Protection
Rules.

We have
developed this tool for any company needing information on Data Privacy
rules and regulations in foreign jurisdictions. The broad range of

is available on over 70 countries (with more being added as time goes
by).
